Common Birth Complications

Common Birth Complications

Giving birth to a child is the most difficult part of pregnancy. Depending on the position of your baby, you may or may not experience too much aching to due labor. There are common birth complications a laboring woman may experience.

One of the birth complications is breech birth. This complication is relatively rare compared to the others. This happens when your baby does not rotate especially during the last few weeks of your pregnancy. Your baby’s feet may exit first your vagina if this condition is not treated immediately. There are many opinions as regards to the treatment of this complication. But majority of the medical fraternity agrees that a Caesarean section is the safest and the best method for this complication. With this, everyone can be sure of the good condition of the child and the mother. There are those who believe that the baby will go to its right position even if she is not treated. They say that this will naturally happen if the mother remains mobile and active especially during the labor’s initial stage. There are also those who believe that an epidural procedure must be used when the mother gives birth.

Another complication is forceps delivery. When baby has problems in exiting your birth canal, then a forceps delivery will be administered. Part of the process is the stirring up of your legs. After this, your vagina will be inserted with forceps. The physician will do this carefully to secure the head of your baby. Then the doctor will help in easing the baby while you are doing the push. Coordination must be well employed during this situation. This is to facilitate the faster exit of your baby. Your pushes must be in synch with the efforts of the doctor in easing your baby. Newborn Baby

Another common birth complication is ventouse. It is also known as the vacuum extraction. This more favored than using the forceps delivery. In this method, a locating suction cup is placed over your baby’s head. With this technique, the cup sucks the baby out of your vagina. In this method, you also need to coordinate your pushes with the efforts of the doctor in sucking out your baby.

These are just some of the common birth complications. You can consult your doctor to know more about the other birth complications and to know how to treat them. In any of the birth complication, there is a standard procedure that you may undertake. This is the regular faecal monitoring. In this, the heartbeat of your baby is monitored.
